3 Holiday Decorating DIYS to Save Money
Anyone who celebrates the holidays know it can be expensive, whether it be decorations, food, or gifts. Here, at the Flair & Keleanor Foundation, we like to save money. (Who doesn't?) So, here are some very, merry holiday DIYS to save money!
1. Snow globes are a really cute and fun decor accent during the holidays. But they can be expensive, so here is a cheap, fun, DIY snow globe that costs way less! (Oh, and you’ve probably already seen this on the web already--but trust us, this one is one of a kind!)
Gather materials! You’ll need a clear glass salt or pepper shaker, water, glitter, glycerin, hot glue, a tiny fake tree, and tiny pompoms.2. Art wall decor is really cool, especially during Christmas. Make any part of your home festive with this quick and easy holiday present wall.
Step 1: Using hot glue, glue the bottom of the tree on the bottom of the salt or pepper shaker. One glue is dry, put a thin layer of hot glue on the bottom of the salt/pepper shaker surrounding the tree.
Step 2: Quickly, drop the pompoms to the bottom of the jar (where you put the hot glue), and gently press them to the bottom of the jar.
Step 3: Fill the top of the salt/pepper shaker with hot glue. This will keep any of the snowglobe filling from leaking out.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, mix 1 part glycerin and 1 part water (to fit into salt/pepper shaker). Then, add preferred amount of glitter and pompoms. Pour this mixture into the salt/pepper shaker.
Step 5: Line the edge and inside of the top of the salt/pepper shaker with hot glue, and then place it on the glass bottom part. Seal generously, and then wait for the glue to dry.
Step 6: Shake the salt/pepper shaker--it’s now a one of a kind snowglobe!!
Gather materials! You will need a variety of different shaped boxes, ribbons, wall safe heavy-duty tape, normal tape, wrapping paper (a variety of designs) and scissors.3. Garlands are really famous during the holiday season. However, they can cost a ton. Here’s a super cute garland that’s really cheap and really easy.
Step 1: Wrap all of your boxes with different wrapping paper designs.
Step 2: Tie or adhesive ribbons onto the boxes.
Step 3: Using wall safe tape, tape all of the boxes onto the wall in an organized pattern.
Gather materials! You’ll need (high quality) white or glittery white paper (in the shape of a square), scissors, glue and white yarn.We hope you will try all try these easy holiday DIYS! They are super easy, and fun to do. Have a happy holiday, from everyone here at the Flair & Keleanor Foundation!
Step 1: Fold glittery paper into a triangle (in half). Repeat this fold 3 times.
Step 2: Using scissors, triangles or into each side of the triangle. (Does this sound familiar? You’re making a snowflake.)
Step 3: Make about 7-12 snowflakes.
Step 4: Cut a 4-5 foot long piece of yarn. Space all of your snowflakes across the yarn.
Step 5: Fold over one corner of each snowflake on the yarn. Glue to hold.
Step 6: Once glue dries, hang the garland anywhere you would like! Over a fireplace, around a door, or above the window!
Definitely going to try the snowglobe.
